I had the hunch that Geto-san would still remember Souya. He should be pretty far down the list of important people for Souya but is also the very first person he meets on that side, so he shouldn't be included in the domino effect of lost bonds at the wake of using wild hunt.

Doubt that's the case. Souya can't even remember who he is, much less Geto-san. Besides, their bond, while not as strong as Souya's family, is nowhere near being shallow either. I'd suspect it has something to do with the abyss god instead, seeing how she was able to manipulate dreams and memories.

I think it has something to do with the abyss god. The abyss god can manipulate memories like how he sealed souya's memory of their encounter.
