I wonder why being respectful would rob you your freedom and dignity. Afaik, someone can be respectful without losing their freedom, dignity, nor their principles. "Respect" does not always come hand in hand with "obeisance". Willingness to hear advices, different opinions/perspectives, acknowledging it and take it to consider a wholesome/comprehensive decision, imo are part of being respectful. Being polite in words and conduct is another part of being respectful. As for whether taking the advice or not, that depends on what we decide after we consider it. 🤷‍♀️
