They know the Purple Baron is a bow meant to have multiple elements. At present it is a bow for dou qi users in the Radiance Continent. Since the SYX they know is an elf they probably felt that it really was an incompatible bow for her.

LAN is probably tried to get one of the branches but failed and as punishment the elf king broke his legs
