I don't feel like he was tricked or anything. It was his fault for underestimating his enemy on the battlefield and becoming complacent. If it was a life of death battle, he would have died n times with his mentality.

I agree. it was a competition for pete's sake. Everyone would think of a way to win, and it's not like it was against their rule or smthng.
