Girls, calm down. Perhaps he simply compared the frequency of the female MCs need to be saved from the big crisis she couldn't solve by their love interest vs. the male MCs. In my experiences reading many kinds of genres, including shounen and seinen (male targeting books), the male MCs will also get some helps from his love interest like the female MC. But, it's very rare (almost as rare as pegasus) that the male MCs were saved from the big crisis he couldn't solve by his love interest. He usually would be saved by his master or a join effort of his friends and his love interest.
