I guess it's because most of the shade of colors look bad on their complexion. Remember, they have the pale greyish skin tone. It's only the black and the gradation shades of it will make them "good". Although, I wonder: Have they never consider the dark shade of the other colors such as dark deep-blue, dark maroon, dark deep-green, dark deep-violet, etc.?
