Fengling seems arrogant but doesn't seem to be able. At least he's able to recognize the strength of the other squad. His goal wasn't even to kill Zhanye, just teach him a lesson. I feel like him seeing the interaction between Zhanye and the rest of the flaming red squad is making him think over some personal choices lol

You may forget about the high undead creature which made them met for the first time. In Fengling's p.o.v and understanding, the Flaming Red Squad has stolen their prey (the high undead creature) and they shamelessly didn't acknowledged that wrong doing.
