SYX has changed quite a bit since coming here. For your first example, the fact that he left HRS’s resources and came to the Barren Land to save her other Master is proof of his selflessness. If he did do so, he’d respect her decision just like he did at HRS, and SYX is smart enough to know this. And its not like she needs one, since she’s technically the Young Lady of the 2 best elf clans on the MGC, with grandparents that specialize in everything😂! And Xiu can be removed from the equation as it concerns SYX; if she asked, he would practically grant godhood to the entire Flaming Red Squad! He’s that indulgent!

I'm confused about Nock's motivation, tho. The author (through Nock's and SYX's p.o.v.) implicitly and explicitly said that he nurture Sal and Feng Ling for his benefits: "to stabilize his position in Howling Abyss." But, what kind of position he has even now. He doesn't have any nominal/official position, just an empty tittle of Royal Teacher (his relationship with Mingye doesn't even seem like a royal teacher and a crown prince). And what does he get from Sal's (and would he get from Fengling's future-) position as military chief-commander? All his glory come from his relationship with Yaksha and Mingye. We haven't ever seen he abused his relationship with Sal for his own benefit (purely for his own benefit, not for pushing his best student to get the most brilliant future). All the respect and privilege he get has come from his achievement as Yaksha's "advisor" and a teacher who has nurtured a powerful general such as Sal and a talented prince such as Mingye. Whether he has another brilliant student (e.g. Fengling) or not isn't that much important, it's just an icing on the cake. So, really... What kind of benefit they're all talking about? At most, it'll only make sure his name is resounding well in education field and (considering Fengling's personality) and he'll have someone he can rely on in his old days (when he can't be as vigorous as in his younger years).Imo, as much as students has "right" to forget their teachers' favor (in their school days) and/or take it for granted, the teacher also has "right" to plan how he'll cope with his future as elderly using whatever resources he can use.

I guess she went with SYX in the end not only bc she gets the feeling of actually belonging to her team and getting their earnest camaraderie, but also because SYX is also a girl and has accomplished so much despite her gender. Plus, she noticed SYX knows her little secret but chose to let her come out on her own when she is ready, which gained her respect for SYX. All in all, I like her character.This change from arrogant and hard to deal with to intelligent and knowing where they truly belong also shows how much the social environment affects one's personality.

Fengling is a girl. I'm calling it. When that guy zhengye or whatever hit her chest, they became awkward and he kept looking at his hand for some time after that. And now it turns out that she as living in a room alone due to Yanxiao's arrangements.
