Cut to 2 chapters later, we get us the shopkeeper judging its customer for looking poor, telling them they can't afford an item

*Spoiler* The way Tang Nazhi explains the Barren Land and the people within it completely contradicts how they actually are later in the novel, here he says the 3 were victors of the tournament and get a special privilege of ignoring the imperial family. But in actuality the 3 successful people are from other countries. The author just threw out that continuity.
