I know it's a hypocritical, but in a sense they can just be together with Yanxiao and not actively participate in conflicts and if others seek to harm her, they'll just protect her and not fight in her wars. Of course that would still be a huge help, but in a sense that's just a force of nature protecting her by chance. You wouldn't blame a mountain or the ocean for being between you and your enemies, so I kind of think the elemental spirits are the same.But maybe I'm just a hypocrite that wants little Xiao to have cute and powerful helpers haha
