Nah this is just a typical patriarchal grandfather and in line with ancient Asian nobility, I mean even now in modern times majority of Asian culture values blood ties and ancestry, some traditional asian society even ostracize orphans, illigitemate children and look down own adoption not related to their blood. So its already GuJinyu's golden finger that her noble father loves her and willing to protect her because its weird that he doesn't love Jiao Jiao, for me this is even illogical since he loves Yao shi. Sure he raised her but blood ties are everything during those times it doesn't make sense hence the golden finger.
