I thought about 100 chapters ago that maybe the relationship between dowager empress and dowager concubine went south because she empress discovered all of her schemes INCLUDING possibly feeding her infertility medicine... which would be the reason she never had children of her own.This is only related to your comment because it triggered the thought again.
