The story is so rich. I read reviews on NU and now I'm so worried that author will botch the ending but that's like 600~700 chapters too early to be concerned about.

The bit about the shoes made me tear up a little bit. The Emperor mentioned that the Empress Dowager had lost a pregnancy (and it's rather implied to have been Jing's doing somehow). She had those shoes made for her baby, and she still keeps them."Demon empress", my left butt cheek. Like most of the characters in this story, she's got a WHOLE LOT of complexity to her. The characters really set this story apart from so many of the CNovels out there with their two-dimensional cardboard characters.
