Out of character how? The author has shown on multiple occasions that Shiasha, despite her intentions, still sees humans as being beneath her... Even if she's gained some trust and respect for some, she still sees herself above them and more importantly, he has also shown that when it comes to Jig, she has zero restraint... Kirk is right on how he describes their relationship, not just employer and employee but not far enough to be that of a man and a woman... She's downright obsessed and possessive when it comes to Jig and will have 0 issues tossing her original plan aside if this allowed her to stay with him. So if it were to come down to burying the town whole, she would do it without hesitation. After all, who in this guild could even come close to be able to stop her if she really wanted to? Their tools, sorceries and skills can just take them so far.

What you don't understand is Yes she tried to fit in but it's also okay if it she can't. Because unlike before she now has Jig. Author has been hinting repeatedly about her obsessive behavior over Jig. The only thing she care is Jig staying beside her. If she has to choose with Jig or the rest of the humanity, she would choose Jig without a second thought. Also the only people who knows she is abnormal is Kirk and Mafia guy.
