It is hard to not also see that while she is clearly self-aware enough to understand her own motivations, that type of selfishness could also be considered "enlightened self-interest" which is a strong motivator of the only kind of selflessness we will see out of most sentient beings. What I guess I mean is that underneath even this layer is yet another layer where I can't help but believe this is also a character that would have difficulty, if it came to it, watching the world—all it's peoples—suffer like that. There is always a blend of motivations for her. Like with the people that were enslaved. She both couldn't tolerate seeing that go on and ultimately she eradicated that for human and empathy reasons but also for selfish ones all at the same time. All so-called "selflessness" is based in something selfish. It is a matter of degrees. Even when it is the selfish desire to be at ease knowing other sentient beings are not oppressed or suffering, and therefore doing everything available to a person to eradicate that oppression and/or suffering.
