If the first battle in Desert City is any indication, the devil army only sent tens thousand (around one hundred thousand) soldiers in each battle while the rest were watching the show as spectators (and giving pressure by their presence to their enemy). On the other side, the alliance soldiers are distributed reasonably on each cities of Barren Land, a.k.a divided right from the start.But, now they're talking as if Satan used the full size of his army each times he attacked those small cities and SYX's actually could spare a "small" army to content (and get a close win) against a devil general and his/her ten millions of elite soldiers while also reducing the other groups of devil army.

In this novel, author made the Devil God (Satan/WuYao) look so stupid cuz of too much arrogance.Whereas in GDBBM, he was really the very epitome of his title as the Devil God. Even so, he was still very much admired and liked by the people. Even his subordinates are much more likable.Devil God in GDBBM was so sly, cunning and intelligent, very evil yet with logical reasons.. He was very well prepared step by step in advance. In GDBBM, he seems less "stupid and arrogant" because there's JWX by his side. He knows anxiety and worry for other (JWX). He takes things more seriously because he can't put her on any kind of risk. So, he actually uses his brain and show his actual intellectual quality.We also can see his better side and fun subordinates because it's his (and JWX's) story. He's still the same person with the same set of character basic settings. But, when he's one of the protagonist instead of the side character or an antagonist, we can see more sides of him, including what you've mentioned (and the author can/will underplay his bad aspect like how she underplay SYX's now).
