Seems like Gu Jiao is supposed to be bluffing because the author keeps saying she "doesn't care" about Gu Jinyu, but to me that doesn't jive. Someone who completely didn't care about Gu Jinyu wouldn't make a point of saying, "Oh, send her back to the village then," to win arguments. Saying something inflammatory like that to someone and then being like, anyway I don't care about them at all~ when they get mad is obnoxious. Especially since it seems like Gu Jiao was an adult when she transmigrated; Gu Jinyu is like 14. Pretty shameful to be like that to someone so much younger than you.But really to me it seems like the author has it in for Gu Jinyu for some reason? Like Yao shi and Gu Yan* are both clearly supposed to be "good" characters and the author seems to think it's fine for them both to be jerks to Gu Jinyu.Sorta wonder what the author's moral principles re: family are because they don't seem remotely consistent.Read moreRead moreGu Jiao is good for recognizing Gu Sanlang and Xu shi as parents, Gu Jinyu recognizing the Marquis and Yao shi as her parents is apparently her being shallow.Gu Jiao is justified in not immediately recognizing the Marquis and Yao shi as parents, Gu Yan is justified in not respecting the Marquis, Gu Jinyu is again shallow for not immediately recognizing Gu Sanlang and Xu shi as parents.Speaking of, Gu Sanlang and Xu-shi would be sad that Gu Jinyu didn't immediately recognize them as parents, they wouldn't be sad that some stranger took over their adopted daughters body and then scolded their bio daughter when she came to show her respects.Gu Jinyu is good for bonding with Jing Kong and the old lady, people she met less than a year ago and has no blood ties with. Gu Yan and Yao shi are apparently justified in not bonding with Gu Jinyu, who they grew up with/raised, because she's not their "real" family member. Also Gu Jinyu is shallow for going back to the capital with the Marquis (who actually likes her and cares about her) instead of staying with Gu Yan (who bullies her) and Yao shi (who does nothing to stop that and is pretty lukewarm towards her.)Sorta wishing the whole switched at birth plotline hadn't happened, before that the morals in this story were fairly consistent and now it's just "Everything Gu Jiao does is right, it's fine to be a jerk to other people as long as you're nice to Gu Jiao."*Gu Yan is also the worst. Xiao Liulang is aloof but he at least does stuff like read villagers' letters, he's courteous to the family who lent him brown sugar, stuff like that. This is going the typical route of fake miss vs real miss trope. And not done well

It's so unfair for the Gu Jinyu to be send her to the village. She is nice and did nothing wrong. I like the stoey but I don't agree with FL that she should call her bio parents, parents, be send away from her house etc. Our Fl doesnt treat marquises couple like her parents either and this is fine? Why in Chinese writers don't like orphans so much?
