was over-death the strongest all time? I'd like to think that way by how he was regarded by another ex ranker (alma's gramps) and that fact that he was the raid leader that took down what can be described as the strongest beast to ever be killed to date.
Solo1 month ago
Thanks for reading and commenting, supreme-being-42! Well, this was one part that wasn't clarified very well in the WNs but cleared up in the LN. Over Death was the only human in history to ever kill a Variant. The other times the Variants had crossed over, they were only forced to retreat but not killed. Of course, he had his clan and the other Regalias' help. But that alone says a lot about how strong he was, I believe.

She's gonna judge Noel despite not even meeting him? And suggest the clan she manages based on the party leader just jumping into the fray and motivating people? Chick has no mind for people and even less for tactics. You're the small fry, just another small brute you can find anywhere. Enjoy bride school, bitch.

I always initially though that Marion was a girl by the way she adressed and acted towards Harold. I also didn't realize the Lioud was EX-rank at 15 until this comment below me

Bro was EX- rank at 15!?

Thanks for reading and commenting, Valiant Saber! Ridiculous, isn't it? Unfortunately, he's not very motivated

I was sure it was a girl from the start. Well, not to mention that I'm French, so Marion already felt like a girl's name to me. But even before that, the way she enters the room and address her Grandpa felt more like one of the stereotypes for a feminine character, some kind of strong ill-mannered girl who doesn't take well being looked down upon by stupid men and just beat some sense into them every now and then. The mention about speck of bloods on her shirt even further put it in my mind, so much so that I didn't even realize that her gender wasn't specified for most of the chapter until I actually saw your comment about it... I even imagined it with blood on her skirt rather than on her shirt, even though she is most likely wearing an uniform like her Grandpa, with pants and not a skirt in truth x)
Solo5 months ago
Thanks for reading and commenting, Gibli! Yeah, this will never fool any French person.XD But you're right, because of how stereotypically Marion acts, it actually gives it away, huh? I never saw it that way, but once you pointed it out, it made a lot of sense. Read more

no. until the word granddaughter appeared, i believe Marion is a guy. who named her beautiful daughter Marion ?!
Solo7 months ago
Thanks for reading and commenting, inea! Haha, well, as Tana mentioned below, Marion is a common female name for women in France
Dwarf Legend8 months ago
realize it when in middle of chapter and not in first call of Marion say "Grandpa" and not "Gramps" who usually used by guy/men. but i'am not really sure to be honest until the end of chapter.

Really introducing character to define a side of the world setting is getting too frequent also because you get thrown into the character evaluation of it which is fine but should be kept moderate. As far as I can see everyone love the stile and the setting, there are already a few strong female fighter so a strong female guild character is not out of the picture. Grandchild genarono fighting against Great Demon King is definitely a goal the author gives to set a reason for the time frame but we get less and less of hard work but more of talent... I really look forward to how Mc hard work gonna get shown here and there
Solo8 months ago
Thanks for reading and commenting, AzaThom32! Yeah, even though the goal is really out there, it's always interesting to see how they're going to strive for it

Hello, i discovered this novel recently and i really like your translation! Thanks for your hard work! For me, in France Marion is a common name for woman.
Solo8 months ago
Thanks for reading and commenting, Tana! Yeah, this will definitely not work on the French lol. To Japanese, it's just some foreign name, but to you guys it's too obviously female since the author took great care to make the names appropriate. XD Read more

Eh, that's a pretty terrible bet. No matter who loses someone is giving up their livelihoods over it. Marion would be forced to change her entire character, give up her career (which she's being fairly successful in), and conform to societal standard meant to restrict freedom (and I don't see a future where Noel loses). Do they secretly hate each other?
Solo8 months ago
Thanks for reading and commenting, Vullord666! Prob a bit competitive, but they prob love each other

Well, i really had to create an account, I couldn't keep on going without praising Solo's job, really, thank you for the great work and make me able to read this story (hopefully I'll be able to slide into the patreon in January hehe),and Hoodweeb, if you read this, reading your comments made this journey more enjoyable :D thank you as well. In regards to Marion, my initial thought was that she was indeed a girl and keept that thought halfway through, but the more I read, the more I got confused, and when the grandpa mentioned the bet, my idiot brain was already thinking Marion was a boy haha, I guess you can say I was tricked in the end :D but I can't pinpoint why she was a girl, my best guess would be instinct/flow of the story xD. Anyway, thank you again for the amazing work!!! Read more

Thank you for reading and creating an account just to comment, AlbertinoDias! Thank you very much for your kind words. Yeah, HoodWeeb's enthusiasm is infectious haha. Read more As for Marion, I've already resigned myself to the fact that it just doesn't work as well against non-Japanese haha. Show less

Hahaha I really appreciate that!! I also love this novel just as much as everyone else and I felt the same way as you did😁

I figured it was a woman as well, between the name and the speech Her speech patterns definitely have her away, English is a language where you can identify people pretty accurately by the way they speak.
Solo10 months ago
Thanks for reading and commenting, Cake! Yeah, this works so much better in Japanese...
Corthra10 months ago
I’ve primarily seen Marion be the first name of women. When I’ve seen it used by men in fiction they’re usually affluent or high-class individuals. Even if Marion had a more gender neutral name the way she talks feels distinctly feminine.
Solo10 months ago
Thanks for reading and commenting, Corthra! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I long since given up. XD Read more
Banesephy11 months ago
I only ever thought of the name Marion as a name for women. Maybe because of Marion Cotillard the actress?
Solo11 months ago
Thanks for reading and commenting, Banesephy! Yeah, I've resigned myself to the fact that this doesn't work as well on non-Japanese for too many reasons lol.
thejadmaster11 months ago
I actually didn’t catch that Marion was female, probably because I was associating her name with a different character who was male. I was surprised and gratified at the reveal, so thank you for putting in that effort! 😁

Solo, how is the Night parade of 100 demons leader name pronunced, is it LLoyd, because it's throwing me off.
Solo11 months ago
Thanks for reading and commenting, Goncourt! It's Ri-O-U. Yeah, basically leo with a Uu sound behind. Why it turned out to be Lioud is because that's the closest existing European name(it's French) I could find. Since almost all the names used have strong European(especially Germanic) origins. If Harold does win the bet, that would make Noel capable enough to give his granddaughter to him and he makes sure they would marry. Marrying his granddaughter to the grandson of his hero is probably one of his plans now.
Solo1 year ago
Thanks for reading and commenting, Daime17! Haha, that very well could be true
FoxReader62911 year ago
Yea i thought it was a female from the first two paragraphs mentioning her. Just from the fact it was too fishy she wasnt mentioned by any pronouns
Solo1 year ago
Thanks for reading and commenting, FoxReader6291! Oh yeah, that's true. It isn't fishy in Japanese, but it kinda stands out in English, huh?

I was thinking that Marion is a girl just by her name.
Solo1 year ago
Thanks for reading and commenting, Lilia Ixalia! I've pretty much given up and accepted that it really doesn't fool readers in English haha.
HandsomeRansom1 year ago
.... i thought it was a girl from the start. Lol. I just re-read and I can see how you would think its a guy???
Solo1 year ago
Thanks for reading and commenting, HandsomeRansom! Yeah, it's kinda tough, English doesn't have "masculine" and "feminine" ways of talking like Japanese does, so it turns out tons of people thought she was a girl......
